TUESDAY 10 NOVEMBER

EX HEX / JACUZZI BOYS / SKELETON FRAMES

Doors: 7pm // Tickets: £12.10 (inc. Booking Fee) // Alt-Tickets

EX HEX
www.exhexband.com

Ex Hex is a power trio hailing from Washington, DC, making the music you’ve been waiting for. Drums, bass, guitar, P90s, searing leads—this is unapologetic rock ’n’ roll spat out in the discipline’s mother tongue. After killer performances at Field Day, Primavera & other European festivals a couple of weeks ago, Ex Hex have confirmed plans to return to the UK for a full regional tour in November, including a headline show at London’s Scala. These new dates will round off a busy year for the band. Since bowling over critics with the release of debut album ‘Rips’ last October, Mary Timony, Laura Harris & Betsy Wright have toured almost continuously, taking in US dates with King Tuff as well as hugely successful European & US headline tours.

JACUZZI BOYS

Given their unabashedly lo-fi aesthetic, their predilection for psychedelia, and their old-school pop sensibilities, Jacuzzi Boys sound like direct descendants of 1960s garage rock. Although they might sound like they could’ve appeared on the original Nuggets compilation, Jacuzzi Boys are most definitely a product of the 21st century.

THURSDAY 12 NOVEMBER

BRISTOL BAD FILM CLUB PRESENTS: VIBRATIONS (1996)
www.bristolbadfilmclub.co.uk

Doors: 7pm // SOLD OUT

Rising rock star T.J. Cray gets the shot of a lifetime — an audition with an A&R man — but on the big day, a carload of drunks smash into his car, and his hands are severed. Soon, he drops out of the business and becomes a homeless drunk, until one day when he wakes up to a pulsing beat in an abandoned warehouse where a “rave” party is in full swing. There, he meets Anamika (Christina Applegate), who helps reinvent T.J.’s career… as Cyberstorm, a D.J. with robotic hands!

“This movie is insane, and so offensively 90s that it probably has a 4 Non-Blondes poster in its bedroom.” Uproxx

“Holy Shit. This has to be one of the most insanely sincere, insanely awful, least self aware movies ever made.” Letterboxd

“It’s the best film about a hand-less wino who becomes the toast of the rave community that I’ve ever seen.” House of Self Indulgence

All profits to The Harbour.

FRIDAY 13 NOVEMBER

MY LIFE STORY / TALK IN CODE / LU’AMI / ELLE KAYE

Doors: 6:30pm // Tickets: £16.50 (inc. Booking Fee) // Alt-Tickets

MY LIFE STORY
www.mylifestory.uk.com

In 1993, MLS were spotted by Giles Martin, (the son of Beatles legend George) who offered them free time at his fathers studio. The debut single Girl A, Girl B, Boy C was born, a tale of a bizarre love triangle with a big band soundtrack. All foxy horns and horny foxes, it was released by indie label Mother Tongue and possessed a sassy swing which sounded gloriously out of place in the year of grunge. NME and Melody Maker made it their Single of the Week.

SATURDAY 14 NOVEMBER

CORY HENRY & THE FUNK APOSTLES

Doors: 7pm // Tickets: £15.40 (inc. Booking Fee) // Alt-Tickets

Cory Henry is a multi-instrumentalist and producer with a catalog worthy of a man twice his age. His primary instrument is the organ, and he began playing at the age of two. Henry is primarily known for harmonically rich organ playing that owes a greater debt to the virtuosic unpredictability of Tatum and Peterson than it does to Jimmy Smith and other members of the Hammond organ pantheon. In his best moments he seems to capture the breadth of the Jazz and Gospel idioms and produce something altogether new through his unique blending of the two genres. Although he possesses a great deal of technique, in his solos he regularly subordinates it to a narrative arch and exhibits a maturity that surpasses his years. Unlikely many virtuosos he is a great accompanist, and perhaps this is why he excels also as a producer and sideman.
