Celebrating Thekla’s 40th Anniversary of operating as a venue in Bristol in May 2024 – the Thekla team has produced The Complete History of Thekla. A locally produced historical archive of Thekla’s iconic history, chronicling its tale from a German cargo ship in the 1950s to the beloved music venue and nightclub it is today in Bristol’s harbour.

Featuring never-before-seen images and stories that have previously gone untold, we are proud to present a physical documentation of the boat’s past that contributes not only to local history, but Bristolian culture and that of the UK’s live music & nightclub scene.
